On September 25, 2026, we held the first Advisory Board Meeting of DataECO – Data Ecologies in Santiago de Compostela. The event brought together researchers, journalists, and activists to share the project's initial findings and discuss the political, social, and environmental dimensions of digital infrastructures.

The meeting featured contributions from Elisenda Ardèvol, Verónica Bolón Canedo, Manuel García, Pablo Jiménez Arandia, Sebastián Lehuedé, Guillermo López García, and Maite Mercado, whose diverse perspectives helped enrich the project's research agenda.

The programme was structured around two collective working sessions: “Chronographies of the Computational Expansion Regime”, focused on exploring the temporal dimension of computational expansion, including the actors, conflicts, and impacts associated with the growth of data centres and artificial intelligence; and “Infrastructural Speculations and Futures”, dedicated to imagining alternative scenarios and discussing the limits of current models of technological development. The meeting concluded with a musical performance by Ciro Montanari and Jordi Prats.

The event was supported by the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Faculty of Communication Sciences, the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI), the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU), the Regional Government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia), and the Institute for Galician Studies and Development (IDEGA).
